Dil Dhadakne Do is an Indian Hindi-language comedy drama film which revolves around a dysfunctional nuclear family in which the parents conflicts leads to problems in their children's lives.
The opening of the film starts with introductions in white sans serif font which shows modern era. A voice-over is added of a someone narrating which we later founds out that the narration is done by a member of the family which a dog. The film starts with a pan shot and then Static shots to reveal some gifts and invitation which are to be sent for the 30th wedding anniversary of the main characters parents which shows that the family is from a rich background. Then the narrator starts introducing the family on which the film is about. First comes the head of the family, Mr.Kamal Mehra, who is shown in a Push-in Camera movement to focus on him.
Furthermore, Ground level shots and close up shots of the character playing golf are shown. Over the shoulder shots are used afterwards with cross cuts when he is having a conversation with someone to focus on what they are talking about.
After this the introduction of another family member begins with Random movement shots to give an impression that its trying to be realistic which also gives us an idea about the character of the women, Neelam Mehra. Over-the-shoulder shots
The son and 'heir' of the family is now introduced with a mid shot where first the lavish house is seen and then the boy is seen swimming. The lavish background in the shot symbolizes that he is from a rich family.
In addition to this, different scenes are connected with hard cuts of showing his lifestyle. A point of view shot comes which puts the audience in mind of the character which goes with the narration when it is said that his life is not as easy as it looks on the outside.
