Types Of Film Openings

There are different types of film openings.

One of them is a teaser. A teaser can be described as an opening scene or sequence made with the intention to create such an impression on the audience that they would want to see more. It gives a glimpse of what the film is about which would make the audience curious and want to watch what's next. However, It is not supposed to reveal too much information as the viewers might lose interest.

Some films openings are made just to give us an idea about the character of the film. The opening might have no dialogues but the setting, atmosphere, behavior and dressing of the character tells us a lot about the film.

Moreover, Film openings can show a backstory or the history of the main character. These are usually flashbacks which makes the opening very interesting. These are made in such a way that the audience will want to see the what happens in the future.

Many film openings also has a voice-over which gives us an idea of the what the movie is about. The tone and point of view of the person narrating can have a huge impact on the audience.

In addition to this, Some openings can show a flash forward in which the present situation is shown and then the whole film is about what happened in the past to see what led to that situation today.
